It is my son's 11th birthday this week! Whoever said 'they grow up so fast' wasn't joking, and it really does feel like only yesterday when he was a baby in my arms. That is a post for another day. My son's school gives the kids the option of bringing in a treat on their birthday. I think it's great, and my son is always excited to celebrate with his friends. Everyone always brings in cupcakes for their birthday treat, and honestly I'm getting a little tired of making cupcakes all the time. So this year we decided to try something a little different. I wanted to make something that looked fun, tasted yummy, and was simple to make.
I had tried this recipe in the past that I found on Pinterest that had Oreos and M&M's in it. But after I made it the base was too crunchy for my liking. So I used my own base when I made it this time and I think it turned out really great. It was a hit with my son and his class as well :)
Here is what I did...
[yumprint-recipe id='1'] I will definitely be adding this recipe to my list of go-to sweet treats for school events as well as a fun kids dessert option for family gatherings. Just think about the various combinations of things I could incorporate into this recipe in the future!
If you try something different I would love to hear about it in the comments.
